THE SYMPTOMS AND CAUSE OF THE ROEMHELD SYNDROME
The Roemheld (gastrocardiac) syndrome provokes bloating of the stomach, tachycardia (rapid heart rate), arrhythmia (heart palpitations), constipation alternated with diarrhea, difficulty in breathing, tiredness, anxiety and cramps. This is due to a conspicuous accumulation of gas in the intestines, caused by intestinal fermentation of the carbohydrates. Its treatment focuses on the reduction of the fermentation.
A FIRST ADVICE: EAT MORE AT BREAKFAST AND REDUCE YOUR DINNER!
First of all I would suggest two things to reduce intestinal fermentation, and thus obtain relief from the Roemheld syndrome. Firstly, keep in mind that the food you eat at breakfast is completely absorbed by the intestine, while a part of what you eat at dinner accumulates in the intestine at night in the form of stool residue that ferments. So the first secret is to reduce this fermentation: make it a habit to have a bountiful breakfast and eat less at dinner!
SECOND ADVICE: ELIMINATE STARCHY FOOD BOILED IN WATER!
My second advice to improve the Roemheld syndrome is to reduce your intake of starchy foods boiled in water. As noted, starch is part of carbohydrates, and the starchy foods that are most popular are rice, wheat flours, maize, and potatoes. If these are baked in the oven, their consistency is more or less dry and facilitates chewing and soaking, allowing the first salivary digestion of carbohydrates which already starts in the mouth. Instead, if the starchy foods are boiled in water (pasta, boiled rice, polenta, cous-cous, boiled potatoes etc.), after cooking these are soaked with water, which hinders the saliva from penetrating during the chewing process, thus skipping the first important phase of salivary digestion of carbohydrates. The second part of digestion in the intestines, thus cannot be totally done, due to which the undigested residue of carbohydrates is not completed. This residue thus ferments in the lower parts of the intestine.
So make it a habit to have a more bountiful breakfast than usual, and eat whatever you want. At lunchtime, your first dish which is the one responsible for the boiled starchy foods, must be reduced by at least half, and if necessary slightly increase the second dish and bread. At dinnertime, totally eliminate the first dish – since you had a more abundant breakfast – you should not feel the need to increase the second dish, but rather, would spontaneously reduce it.
A RADICAL SOLUTION: THE MAYR THERAPY!
These are my tips to obtain relief from the Roemheld Syndrome. To heal it radically you would need something more, and I see no better cure than the Mayr Therapy which aims at eradicating completely a conspicuous part of the fermenting bacteria from the intestine, which is commonly defined as “bad” fermentation. Your tummy will be again flat, since it will no longer have fermentation gas which bloats it, and the uncomfortable Roemheld syndrome symptoms will belong to the past.
REMEMBER: STARCHY FOODS BOILED IN WATER BLOAT YOUR TUMMY!
