A FIRST TIP FOR HEADACHE RELIEF: SKIP DINNER
“Headache” or “cephalalgia” is a generic term that covers many head pains, for example, migraine, muscle-contraction headache, and trigeminal neuralgia. All these pathologies obviously require careful diagnostic assessment before starting any therapy, but I am now giving you only a first approach to try to obtain relief in the less serious cases.
The first suggestion I would give to those suffering from headaches is to completely skip dinner for a week, since I saw that the course of the headache depends mostly on the amount of food we eat at dinnertime. In this way, if in the succeeding weeks no headache occurs, you will at least have ascertained that the “dinner” factor should be closely taken into consideration in obtaining relief from headaches. Obviously, the week in which dinner is skipped, you need to have a rather hearty breakfast, since only one meal a day would not suffice to give most people the adequate energy.
Usually skipping dinner for a week does not entail any concrete difficulty, due to which, I believe that it is a test worth doing in every case. There are various assumptions one can make – on the dinner experiment having a role in the onset of headache – but in my view it is most probable that in this manner, certain toxic substances arise from intestinal decay of protein foods, which stagnate longer in the intestines at night than during the day. In my book on “Intestinal headache” (Italo Svevo Publishers), I discussed the relationships between headache and the intestines and on how to cure this disorder thoroughly.
THE MAYR THERAPY WILL FREE YOU FROM HEADACHE
If you note some relief from headache during the next weeks – which to my mind is most probable – the issue however remains: what should one eat at dinner, to maintain the good results obtained? My answer is: it varies according to the person. Some researchers hypothesized the appropriateness of reducing animal foods, i.e., rich in proteins, since one of the causes of headache would be the excess of protein in one’s diet. But I noted, however, that also the mainly vegetarian diets can raise the incidence of headaches, and when there is an increase of carbohydrates. What can be done? If you wish, write me an email explaining your particular situation, and I will try – without obligations on your part – to recommend an evening diet that best suits your case. Certainly a simple provision as the one I suggested earlier would not be enough to definitively heal chronic headaches. In my opinion the best way to seek a radical solution is to undergo a good Mayr Therapy in which, moreover – dinner is totally eliminated for at least two months.
