SULPHATED WATERS IN ITALY

Sulphated waters are natural mineral waters that contain a slightly higher concentration of sulphates of magnesium, sodium and potassium, compared to the average. The most renowned in Italy, for example, are the waters of Chianciano and Montecatini, the former being richer in magnesium sulphate and the latter in sodium sulphate. Sulphated waters were already popular ever since ancient times, because of their beneficial action on the intestines. The Romans called it “solamen hypondriacorum,” which literally meant “relief for hypochondriacs,” deriving from “ipo-condrio” (“under the ribs”) i.e. “abdomen.” The Romans were thus aware that these waters were beneficial to people with delicate intestines, but today people associate hypochondriacs to anxious people who are worried about their health. And in fact, these waters do good to one’s body and mind, as confirmed by the saying “the intestine is our second brain.”

DOSAGE FOR SULPHATED WATERS

Sulphated water has the characteristic of washing and rinsing the digestive tract, and thus rapidly dragging toxic wastes stagnating in the intestine towards the anus. In short, they perform a detoxifying and depurating action. But to obtain this goal, you need to absolutely observe two conditions. First, you need to maintain a suitable diet so that the water freely and uniformly descends along the intestine. Second, you need to dose out exactly, both the volume and the concentration of the water, so that it washes out the entire intestine without irritating it. If the concentration of the sulphates is too low, the water will not be able to descend to the very end of the digestive tract, since it is absorbed at the start. If instead it is too concentrated, it will act like a laxative, and thus irritate or damage the intestine. The exact dosage is not easy to obtain, since it depends on the condition of the intestine at that moment, and due to this, the help of a specialist will be required day to day.

SULPHATED WATERS IN THE MAYR THERAPY

Sulphated waters are indispensable in the Mayr Therapy. In this treatment, the water is drunk once a day upon waking, at least half an hour before breakfast, for not less than two weeks.
